Construction Assistant – Full or Part time - Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity - Rapid City, SD
The person in this position assists the Construction Supervisor in completing on site construction projects including new home, rehab and exterior repair. This includes supervising volunteers, assisting with preparing and completing new home, interior and exterior repair projects.

Job Type: Full-time, immediate opening
Position Summary: Oversee Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity's new home construction in a way that completes projects on-time, within budget, with safety first. Position will include supervising and training volunteers, project scheduling, and participating in developing and site development, along with developing construction quality assurance methods to improve long-term products, and warranty work. Construction Supervisor will also work on Home Repair projects as needed.
Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Understand and support the Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity mission.
  • General Contractor's license or willingness to complete General Contractor requirements within 90 days of employment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability
  • Must be capable of leading/motivating an ever changing all volunteer work crew.
  • Must be capable of training volunteers and assessing their capabilities for productive duty assignment.
  • A strong background in all aspects of residential construction.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Minimum of trade school degree in related field preferred.
  • An absolute commitment to job safety.
  • Self-motivated, willingness to commit to established timelines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and project management software.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally via various means.
